Please read these terms and conditions carefully before using our Services.
Purpose and Commitment to Responsible Sharing
As a non-profit online publishing hub, we seek to make creative works accessible for the encouragement, education, enrichment, and benefit of the wider community while respecting the rights, intentions, and contributions of those who create them.
We believe that creative works are gifts entrusted to us for responsible stewardship. While we encourage sharing and engagement with our published materials, such sharing must occur in ways that preserve proper attribution, protect creative integrity, and honor the wishes of the creators and contributors involved.
This Licensing & Use Policy establishes the principles, permissions, restrictions, and procedures governing the use of works published through DP and provides guidance to individuals, organizations, institutions, ministries, educational bodies, media outlets, and other third parties who wish to access, share, perform, reproduce, adapt, or otherwise use such works.
Scope of Application
This policy applies to all creative works published, distributed, hosted, archived, displayed, or otherwise made available through DP, including but not limited to:
-
Musical compositions;
-
Lyrics;
-
Audio recordings;
-
Video recordings;
-
Visual artwork;
-
Written content;
-
Educational materials;
-
Digital media;
-
Promotional materials; and
-
Other original works created or published through DP.
This policy shall be interpreted alongside any applicable copyright notices, licensing statements, contributor agreements, creator agreements, project-specific arrangements, or other written permissions relating to a particular work. Where a specific agreement or license applies to a particular work, that agreement shall govern to the extent of any inconsistency with this policy.
Principles of Non-Commercial Sharing
DP is founded upon a commitment to open access, learning, collaboration, ministry, and creative expression. Accordingly, unless otherwise specified in writing, works published through DP are made available primarily for personal edification, community engagement, educational use, ministry use, research, reflection, and other non-commercial purposes.
The availability of a work through DP should not be interpreted as granting unrestricted rights of reproduction, modification, distribution, commercialization, licensing, synchronization, publication, adaptation, or monetization. All rights not expressly granted remain reserved to the respective copyright owners.
Attribution Requirements
Any person or organization sharing, reproducing, performing, displaying, distributing, referencing, or otherwise using a work published through DP shall provide clear and appropriate attribution to the original author(s) and contributors whenever reasonably practicable.
Attribution should, where applicable, include:
-
The title of the work;
-
The name(s) of the author(s), artist(s), or other identified originator(s), together with any relevant contributor credits;
-
Reference to DP as the publishing hub; and
-
Any copyright or licensing notices accompanying the work.
Attribution must not be presented in a manner that suggests endorsement, sponsorship, partnership, approval, or affiliation where none exists.
Failure to provide appropriate attribution may constitute a violation of this policy and may result in withdrawal of permission to use the work.
Permitted Non-Commercial Uses
Subject to compliance with this policy and any applicable licensing terms, the following activities are generally permitted for non-commercial purposes:
-
Sharing links to published works;
-
Downloading or accessing works for personal use;
-
Educational, instructional, or teaching use;
-
Community, ministry, or worship use;
-
Non-commercial public performances;
-
Academic study, reflection, discussion, or review;
-
Inclusion in presentations, workshops, or training programs; and
-
Reasonable quotation or excerpting consistent with applicable law.
Users are encouraged to maintain the integrity of the original work and to provide appropriate attribution whenever such uses occur.
Uses Requiring Prior Permission
The following activities generally require prior written permission from the relevant copyright holders:
-
Commercial exploitation of any kind;
-
Sale or resale of the work;
-
Monetized distribution or publication;
-
Synchronization with film, video, advertising, or other media;
-
Adaptation, translation, arrangement, remixing, or modification;
-
Creation of derivative works;
-
Commercial recordings or reproductions;
-
Broadcasting or commercial transmission;
-
Use in advertising, sponsorship, fundraising campaigns, or promotional activities; and
-
Any use that may reasonably affect the reputation, interests, rights, or intended presentation of the author(s) or rights holder(s).
Obtaining permission from DP does not necessarily constitute permission from the copyright holders unless expressly stated in writing.
Adaptations, Derivative Works, and Modifications
We recognize that creative works may inspire further creativity and collaboration. However, adaptations, translations, arrangements, remixes, derivative works, or substantial modifications may significantly affect the artistic, creative, theological, educational, or personal intentions embodied in the original work.
Accordingly, no adaptation, modification, derivative work, remix, translation, rearrangement, or similar alteration may be publicly distributed, published, performed, or shared without the prior approval of the relevant copyright holders.
Where permission is granted, the resulting adaptation should clearly identify:
-
The original work;
-
The rights holder(s) of the original work;
-
The nature of the modifications made; and
-
The individuals responsible for the adaptation.
Unless otherwise specified, works published through DP are made available under the terms stated by the relevant rights holders. Where a specific license applies, users must comply with all stated conditions, including attribution, non-commercial restrictions, and share-alike requirements where applicable.
Respectful Engagement, Prohibited Uses, and Protection of Creative Integrity
DP encourages thoughtful discussion, analysis, and review of works published through the platform. Users should engage with such works fairly, accurately, and in good faith, and should avoid misrepresentation, personal attacks, or conduct intended primarily to disparage, harass, or cause unnecessary harm to authors, contributors, or the wider community.
Users shall not use any work in a manner that:
-
Misrepresents the identity of the creators or contributors;
-
Misrepresents the content, meaning, authorship, or context of the work;
-
Removes or obscures attribution;
-
Distorts the meaning, message, or intent of the work;
-
Falsely attributes statements, views, or positions to any author, contributor, or DP;
-
Is defamatory, abusive, harassing, malicious, or intended primarily to cause reputational harm;
-
Associates the work with unlawful activity, or uses the work in deceptive, misleading, defamatory, or other harmful activities or contexts;
-
Distorts, mutilates, or selectively presents the work in a misleading manner; or
-
Otherwise undermines the integrity of the original creation, infringes applicable laws or the rights of others.
DP and the copyright holders reserve the right to request correction, removal, or cessation of any use that materially compromises the integrity of a work or its attribution.
Educational, Ministry, and Community Use
DP encourages the responsible use of its works within educational, ministry, charitable, community, and non-profit contexts. Individuals, organizations and institutions engaging in such uses are encouraged to:
-
Preserve attribution;
-
Maintain the integrity of the work;
-
Respect any accompanying licensing conditions;
-
Avoid commercial exploitation; and
-
Contact DP when clarification is needed regarding permitted uses.
The existence of a non-profit, charitable, educational, or ministry purpose does not automatically exempt a use from permission requirements where substantial reproduction, adaptation, recording, publication, or distribution is involved.
Digital Platforms and Online Sharing
Users may share links to works published through DP using websites, social media platforms, messaging applications, educational platforms, and similar digital channels.
Where works are uploaded, reposted, embedded, reproduced, or redistributed on third-party platforms, users should:
-
Retain all attribution information;
-
Preserve copyright notices;
-
Include references to the original source where possible;
-
Avoid unauthorized modifications; and
-
Comply with any applicable platform policies and legal requirements.
DP reserves the right to request the removal of unauthorized reproductions or uses that conflict with this policy.
Requests for Permission
Individuals or organizations seeking permission to use a work beyond the permissions granted under this policy should submit a request to DP. Permission requests should, where possible, include:
-
Identification of the work;
-
The intended use;
-
The nature and scope of distribution;
-
Whether any revenue, sponsorship, or financial benefit is involved;
-
Whether modifications or adaptations are proposed; and
-
Relevant timelines or publication plans.
DP may assist in directing such requests to the appropriate copyright holders but does not guarantee approval or authority to grant permissions on behalf of the relevant rights holders unless specifically authorized to do so.
Licensing Frameworks
DP may adopt one or more licensing frameworks to facilitate responsible sharing and use of its published works. Such frameworks may include custom licenses, creator-specific licenses, project-specific licenses, open-content licenses, or other licensing models determined by the relevant rights holders involved.
The applicable license for a particular work shall be identified wherever reasonably practicable and should be reviewed before any use is undertaken. In cases where no specific license is identified, users should assume that all rights remain reserved except as expressly permitted by this policy or applicable law.
Record Keeping and Documentation
To support transparency and responsible stewardship, DP may maintain records concerning:
-
Copyright ownership;
-
Authorship information;
-
Contributor credits;
-
Licensing arrangements;
-
Permission requests;
-
Granted permissions; and
-
Related documentation concerning the use of published works.
Such records assist in preserving attribution, clarifying rights, and facilitating future licensing discussions.
Addressing Concerns and Unauthorized Use
Any author, artist, contributor, rights holder, or interested party who becomes aware of suspected unauthorized use, misuse, misattribution, infringement, or policy violations should notify DP without undue delay. Upon receiving such concerns, DP will review the matter, request clarification from the parties involved, and take reasonable steps to address the issue.
Such steps may include:
-
Requesting additional attribution;
-
Seeking correction of inaccuracies;
-
Requesting removal of content;
-
Suspending access to materials;
-
Referring permission inquiries to rights holders; or
-
Taking other appropriate actions consistent with this policy.
Organizational Neutrality Regarding Licensing Disputes
DP serves as a steward and publishing facilitator and does not assume ownership of works solely by virtue of publication. Where disputes arise concerning licensing rights, permissions, ownership, attribution, revenue participation, or other related matters, DP encourages dialogue and facilitate communication but shall remain neutral regarding the competing claims of the parties.
Nothing in this policy shall be interpreted as creating legal obligations on the part of DP to enforce private agreements between the parties involved.
Amendments and Review
DP may review and update this policy from time to time to reflect evolving legal requirements, operational needs, licensing practices, technological developments, and community expectations.
Any revised version shall become effective upon publication through DP's official channels unless otherwise stated.
Commitment to Responsible Stewardship
Through this policy, we seek to cultivate a culture of generosity, respect, accountability, and responsible sharing. By balancing accessibility with proper attribution, openness with creative integrity, and collaboration with respect for ownership, we aim to ensure that every work entrusted to our platform can continue to serve, inspire, educate, and encourage others while honoring those whose creativity made it possible.
